The Karkardooma Court complex commenced operations on May 15, 1993, inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Sh. G.C. Mittal. Spanning an area of 60200 sq. meters, with a covered area of 48086.25 Sq. meters, it handles Civil, Criminal, and Matrimonial cases in the East, North-East, and Shahdara Districts.
Noteworthy additions include the Mediation Cell, inaugurated on May 5, 2006, by Hon’ble Justice Sh. S.B. Sinha, and the Facilitation Centre, set up on January 18, 2007, by Hon’ble Justice Sh. M. K. Sharma. The Conference Hall was unveiled on July 3, 2008, by Hon’ble Justice Sh. A. P. Shah, while the first E-court in the country was established and inaugurated on February 8, 2010, by Hon’ble Justice Sh. A.P. Shah. Further enhancements include the Library inauguration on March 26, 2010, by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mr. Madan B. Lokur, and the inauguration of the Delhi Legal Service Authority office on April 24, 2010, by Hon’ble Justice Sh.
Madan B. Lokur. Additionally, modern Lock Up and Tihar Jail shops were inaugurated on March 11, 2011, by Hon’ble Justice Sh. Dipak Misra. Notably, the first Vulnerable Witness Deposition Court and Complex were established on 10 February 2012, and 11 October 2013, respectively, inaugurated by distinguished judges from the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court.
